The Pentagon's Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) plans to have fully humanoid and autonomous robots that think, act, react, learn, make decisions, and virtually do anything a human can do all on its own by the year 2015 to fight all of our wars, completely removing humans from the battle field. Then by the year 2025 they plan to have "nonlethal" humanoid robots living amongst us all (one per household) much like the movie "I- Robot". We are talking only 6 years for the military and 16 years for the general public. This means that it is safe to say that they already have completely autonomous robots. For example, it is a FACT that Area 51 had stealth fighter jets since the 1970's. this technology was only rumored to be true until they finally revealed its existence and started using them in wars 30 something years later. With that being said, there is no doubt in my mind that they have probably had completely humanoid and autonomous robots in some of the most secret and highly protected research facilities since the mid 1980's to early 1990's... conservetively.
