Created by comedy producer Hal Roach, Our Gang was produced at the Roach studio starting in 1922 as a silent short subject series. Roach changed distributors from Pathé to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in 1927, went to sound in 1929 and continued production until 1938, when he sold the series...

flint michigan; genesse county court room brawl raw video july 14 2009

FLINT -- After a distraught father jumped a courtroom railing and punched the man accused of killing his son last week, local authorities were quick to point out the short-staffed security in the county's courthouses. Genesee County Sheriff Robert Pickell and local judges called for more deputies to staff the courtrooms. "I don't have enough people," Pickell said. Metal detectors installed at Genesee Circuit and District courts in 1990 helped allay fears about weapons, such as guns and knives, making their way inside. But, as Pickell points out, emotions can't be checked at the front door. While there have been some security threats from high profile cases like gang trials, Pickell said most of the disturbances are smaller. Fights break out frequently in hallways, with family members pushing or shoving each other or threatening others. "This is life; this is what's going on in our courtrooms," he said. With the June 26 courtroom brawl, a video shows Alex W. Pace, whose son was shot to death in December, punching defendant Juanell Darrough. Police said Pace lost control when he saw Darrough smiling as he was brought into Flint District Judge Tracy Collier-Nix's courtroom. Only one deputy was in the courtroom, although the Flint police detective assigned to the case also was there. That type of staffing is fairly typical during court hearings. As a result of those issues, Pickell plans on putting more deputies in the courts, especially when there are high profile cases or ...

Swapping City Councillors for Cops - Rob Ford

Rob Ford is running for Mayor of Toronto. To join his team please go to: www.robfordformayor.ca Mayoral candidate Rob Ford says, as mayor, he will add 100 new police officers to the Toronto Police Service to improve safety in our schools and neighbourhoods. The new officers will allow police to double the number of officers in Toronto high schools and double the number of officers available for the Toronto Anti-Violence Intervention Strategy (TAVIS). Funding for this initiative will come from savings accrued by the reduction in City Council from 44 to 22 Councillors. "I think it's an easy choice for most people," says Ford. "We can have 22 politicians spending our money at City Hall, or we can have 100 police officers keeping our kids and neighbourhoods safe." "I've been listening to people and families across Toronto," says Ford. "Parents are concerned about the safety of their children at home, in their parks and at their schools. People are concerned about gang-related violence and crimes in their neighbourhoods." "They want the mayor to do something about it. They want City Hall to stop wasting money on pet projects and perks and start making community safety a priority," says Ford. "That's exactly what I'll do as mayor." Ford's plan will give Toronto Police enough new officers to · Protect Kids in More Schools. 30 additional School Resource Officers will double the number of schools protected by this successful program. By introducing police officers to youth in a ...
